3/9 Assignment

The pear tree represents Janie's voice as she tries to find inner peace and happiness. When she's under the tree, she gets confused between happiness and romance and begins her quest for happiness in a relationship. We understand that Janie won't discover her voice by marriage.

In chapter 3, Janie marries Logan Killicks, and soon after they got married, Janie goes to see Nanny to tell her about her marriage and how she wasn't so sure if he loved him when they were married. Janie also tells her about the things he hates about him, like his looks and the work he makes her do. Nanny then tells her that her mind will change as she ages and that the rest of the things are up to her.A month later, Nanny died and so did Janie's hope of love in marriage, making her a woman.
